Mid-July Update Delay

The writing for Act 2 of DRIFT is now mostly complete. The scenes are drafted, the emotional arcs are solidifying, and the story is starting to come together in ways I'm proud of.

But as I was building out Act 2 and reviewing how it flows from the earlier content, something started bothering me. Now that I'm further in the writing, the pacing and structure of Act 1 just don’t feel as strong as they need to be anymore. Now that I know where the story is heading and what kind of tone I want to build toward, I can see places in the early chapters that feel too slow, too abrupt, or just not quite grounded enough in the right emotional stakes. I’ve decided to go back and revamp Act 1 before moving forward with the next public release.

That means a few things:

-The sound update (which was originally the next milestone) is being delayed for now.

-Instead, I’m focusing on tightening the pacing of Act 1, smoothing transitions, and making the characters feel more present from the beginning.

-Two new characters are being introduced earlier in the story (they’ll also appear again in Act 2 and beyond). Their presence should help balance the tone, establish the Pelagos facility more clearly, and add some additional personality to the early game.

The good news is that none of this is a total rewrite; this is more of a smart patch, not a full teardown. The core of Act 1 remains the same, but the structure, flow, and character interactions will feel sharper and more intentional.

Once Act 1’s update is locked in, I’ll slot Act 2 directly after it. And at that point, we’ll have a much more cohesive and satisfying experience, one that builds momentum instead of stalling out halfway.

Thanks again for keeping an interest in my updates. This project means a lot to me, and I want to make sure every part of it lives up to the potential it deserves.
